The Taiwan Blackfoot Disease
Socio-Medical Service Memorial House was former Tainan
Beimen Clinic. It is unique memorial house that has
been built to preserve the memorable history of love,
medical struggle and Taiwanese spirit. This historical
building is faithfully maintained in which Dr. Wang and
the Mustard Seed Inc.had fought against Blackfoot
Disease during 25 years, where they offered free
medical treatments for the patients around Beimen,
Xiejia, Budai and Yizhu. This is the place that Dr. Wang
had devoted his lifetime to those diseased patients and
where he showed his deep compassion and kindness. This
is a touching story about an old doctor and his patients
should be commemorated forever.
Although
Blackfoot Disease has extinct in Taiwan, Tainan County
Magistrate ,Mr. Su Huan Chih and former Commissioner of
the Department of Cultural Affairs ,Mr. Ye Tzer Shan
proposed to reconstruct King-ho Clinic into this
memorial house in order to preserve the important
history of Blackfoot Disease in Taiwan, which is along
with the touching story and spirit behind it. The
construction had begun in November of 2006, and it was
completed in September of 2007. Now this memorial house
is taken over by “Wang King Ho Culture and Arts
Foundation” after the inauguration, and the aim of the
Foundation is to continue on passing down Dr. Wang’s
spirit of love and sacrifice for making our society
become a better place. |
