Madam Lilian Dickson
Madam Lilian Dickson was a missionary of the Presbyterian
Church from the United States, who founded
The Mustard
Seed Inc. in 1954. It's medical, evangelistic,
and social services were particularly extended to
mountainous regions and remote areas of Taiwan, as it
made a major contribution to Taiwan societies.
She felt heart ached at the sight of the BFD patients' dragging their blackened and ulcerated legs to beg on the road owing to the inability of work when she visited the Beimen village in Tainan County. To help these unemployed patients, she established the Mustard Seed Inc. Pak-Mng (Beimen) "Mercy Door (The Beimen Blackfoot Clinic)" from 1960 to 1986. The raised funds from the Hollywood Presbyterian Church in USA to help the BFD patients obtaining prosthetics, and asked Dr. Wang King Ho to be in charge of medical treatments. All treatments were free at the clinic. (Madan Lilian Diskson passed away at the age of 82 in Taipei in January, 1983)
